A hybrid water heater works like a regular electric tank — but it pulls most of its heat from the surrounding air using a built-in heat pump, just like your AC runs in reverse. Instead of turning electricity directly into heat, it moves heat, making it 3–4× more efficient than a standard electric tank.

💰 Why the big rebates?
APS and SRP both offer substantial rebates on heat pump water heaters because they reduce demand on the electric grid — especially during peak summer hours in Arizona. On top of utility rebates, the federal Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) offers a tax credit of up to $300 for qualifying units. In total, customers often offset $500–$1,000+ of the upfront cost.
